Major William Browne is the Chairman of the Fine Arts  Department at Culver Academies where he has directed instrumental music since 1981.  He earned a position as First Horn in the U.S. Marine Band "The President's Own" in Washington DC, serving from 1972-76.  He also taught music for several years in South Carolina and directed the Summer Naval Band.   In addition, Browne played in, managed and conducted the 566th Air Force Band in Chicago, Illinois for many years.  He currently plays principal horn in the Kokomo Symphony, Kokomo Park Band, the North American Brass Company, and numerous regional bands and orchestras. He holds degrees from Ball State University, Catholic University and Indiana University.  

The appearance of the Albert E. Shockey Detachment color guard has become a tradition at the annual KPB patriotic concert.  The  mission of the Marine Corps League is to “join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps, banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service that they may effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines, Fleet Marine Force Corpsmen and former Marines and FMF Corpsmen and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.”
