The Albert E. Shockey Detachment color guard has become a tradition at the annual KPB patriotic concert.  The  mission of the Marine Corps League is to “join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps, banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service that they may effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines, Fleet Marine Force Corpsmen and former Marines and FMF Corpsmen and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.”

Keith Whitford has been a member of the KPB for 47 years and is the band's principal trumpet.   He was in the original Haworth High School graduating class of 1970 earning his BS in Music Education and his Master of Music Performance degrees from Ball State.  Whitford was the Trumpet Professor at Taylor University for 20 years and performed 18 seasons with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.  He is currently an assistant band director at Western School Corporation.

The Diminuendos are a community choir based in Kokomo which was formed in 2012.  Their specialty is ‘a capella’ choral music, but they also perform regularly with accompaniment.  They have  performed at Beef and Boards, IU-Kokomo’s Haven’s auditorium, and for several sporting events including Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever, and Indianapolis Indians games. The group most recently presented  “We’re back… To Broadway” in January 2017.  The group is founded and directed by Rick Alexander who studied music at Indiana University, Butler University and IUPUI, holding a degree from IU Bloomington and a Master’s of Science from the University of Cincinnati.   He is the Director of Music at Saint Andrew Episcopal Church where he has directed for nearly 20 years.
